This one-day seminar will address the difficulties encountered by engineering analysts in obtaining reliable material properties for modelling real-life problems using Finite Element software.
It will focus on composite materials, and is intended to be a continuation of the previous two IMechE Seminars on metals (2005) and biomedical applications (2007).
The following topics will be targeted by invited speakers:
- Transferring experimental material test data to FEA software
- Reliable sources of material data for composites
- Problems in modelling failure and damage of composites
- Crashworthiness of polymer composites
