The UK’s transport sector currently accounts for almost 24% of the nations CO2 emissions. Of this total, road vehicles account for nearly 80%. It is apparent that no single technology alone can meet the legislative challenges of the UK Governments target of an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2050. Combined, however, real advances can be made, but necessitate strategies for integration.
This seminar, the fourth in the series to be organised in conjunction with Lotus and the Hethel Engineering Centre will examine how contributing technologies can be integrated to achieve significant gains in reducing CO2 and will look at how various technologies are being implemented to meet the challenges that need to be overcome in pursuing low carbon goals.
Presentations will cover the integration of technologies related to advanced IC engines, transmissions, hybridisation and electrification that enable the delivery of the low carbon benefits without compromising vehicle driveability and driver perception.
