As the supplies of natural gas from the UK North Sea sector decline, LNG is going to play an increasing part of the supply of natural gas to meet the requirements of the United Kingdom. This raises questions on how much LNG is required, who will provide it, and where and how should it be stored and distributed. A number of countries have natural gas reserves available, and many of them are busy constructing liquefaction trains and export facilities.
This in turn has been matched by a boom in the building of the specialised ships required to transport the LNG to the country where it will eventually be used. In the United Kingdom, the destination is determined by the availability of suitable deep water ports, which also have to be strategically located in relation to the established natural gas transmission network.
This two-day seminar will bring together leading individuals and organisations that are, or will be, active in the LNG industry. Day one will address the global picture, technology developments and shipping issues. Day two will focus on the outlook for the UK, legislation and safety issues and global project experiences.
