Some energy sources are more sustainable than others. The railway industry must ensure than it is utilising the most sustainable, and at the same time, the most cost effective. There is an abundance of technology out there, both inside and outside the railway industry. Fuel cells, energy recovery systems, electrification strategies and hybrid vehicles all have a part to play.
