Overview

The long-running International Conference on Compressors and Their Systems is the ultimate global forum for reviewing the latest developments and novel approaches in compressor research. The three-day programme is laden with high-quality technical papers from around the globe – 17 countries are represented. The papers cover the design, development and operation of a wide range of compressors and expanders – bringing a valuable opportunity to consider how the work of others affects your own projects.

Equipment manufacturers, suppliers, users and research organisations will all take part, making the event THE place to reach a highly qualified and specialised audience, and get your burning questions answered.

Technical sessions will be supplemented by a lively social programme, including a drinks reception and conference dinner. In addition, City University will deliver an optional short course on Screw Compressor Technology immediately prior to the main conference.

City University Short Course

2 day Other
- Sunday 6 September 2009
Northampton Square

As a continuation of material delivered prior to previous conferences, the University intends to present a series of more advanced courses on various aspects of screw compressor technology. This will take place immediately prior to the International Conference on Compressors and their Systems.

The first of this series will be dedicated to screw compressor geometry. Topics to be covered include:
1) The envelope method as a basis for generating rotor profiles with examples of rotor profile calculation
2) Identification of rotor movement in compressor bearings
3) Tools for rotor manufacturing
4) Special aspects of rotor design, such as the quantification of manufacturing imperfections

Examples will be given of how to generate common rotor profiles, including the basic Demonstrator rotor profile, from which most others can be derived, together with the SKBK, Fu Sheng, ‘Hyper’, ‘Sigma’, ‘Cyclon’, Symmetric, SRM ‘A’, ‘D’ and ‘G’ profiles and those of ‘Rinder’. Special emphasis will be given to the 'n' family of profiles, together with their unique characteristics.

The course will be delivered over two days at the Northampton Square site of City University on Saturday 05 and Sunday 06 September 2009.

Course Fees:
For Conference delegates     £300
For non-delegates                £400

Conference Dinner

Monday 7 September 2009
1 Birdcage Walk
The conference dinner will begin with a drinks reception at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Library at their headquarters in London. The grand Elizabethan style Library, clad in warm oak, has stunning views over St. James Park. Over 400 years of engineering publications are held on its bookshelves and galleries.
