The number of joint replacements has grown dramatically over the past decade. With an increasing and ageing population, this is likely to continue.
This one-day event will focus on the mechanical and material considerations of the bearing surfaces used in hip joint replacement. The changes in these surfaces have a substantial effect on the long-term survival of the implants − this is clearly of major clinical importance.
This symposium will look at the development, testing and use of present and future bearing surfaces, and also the influence of the bearing surface on the design of hip joint replacements.

Speakers have been hand-picked from both medical and engineering backgrounds to provide a comprehensive study of bearing surfaces in hip replacement. Speakers include:
