Why bother to detect deterioration and impending failure of systems and components? Why not just let them fail?
Some responses to these questions may be obvious to all but what drives the choice to implement fault detection or not?
Transmission systems and other mechanical systems are in scope with a wide range of fault detection technologies being presented, initially at a high level but with opportunity for discussion in afternoon workshop sessions to provide more detail.
