S1315 - Fretting Fatigue and Wear - Real Life Solutions

1 day Seminar | Completed
Tuesday 23 September 2008

East Midlands Conference Centre
University Park
Nottingham
NG7 2RJ United Kingdom

Overview

Aeronautical applications, blade roots, spline shafts, riveted lap joints, bolted connections, artificial hip replacements, wires and cables, railway industry, automotive (racing) industry. The seminar will provide aerospace, automotive and structural engineers not only with tools to predict fretting fatigue failures and to establish fretting fatigue design limits (in analogy with plain fatigue thresholds) but also with information about available experimental data, testing facilities and techniques for fretting fatigue crack detection. Academic and industrial researchers will be presenting the ideas and the technologies developed in the last decade to study this important phenomenon. The way some of the new design tools have already been incorporated by aerospace industry in their design criteria will also be discussed. The need of further studies and advanced research in the area, together with design standardisation will finally be debated.
