Historically, due time was allowed for new technologies to become reliable. However, cost demands and legal considerations have now made this unacceptable. Expectations are unrelenting; engineers are now required to establish and deliver the ‘expected reliability’ of a product from the outset. The necessary evidence to support real confidence in reliability often has to be established with only a limited amount of available data. Data by itself provides no guarantee of reliability, unless it is synchronised with sound engineering principles to provide a case for acceptability.
This one-day seminar will look closely at the issues surrounding reliability forecasting and demonstrate the methods of analysis and assessment that can be used in establishing valid expectations and the auditable reasoning behind them.
