Modern sport is intrinsically linked with engineering. The technologies that sports engineers introduce have a profound impact upon the performance of athletes at all levels. Over the years engineers have enabled athletes to run faster, hit further and jump higher, while reducing the risk of injury.
This one-day seminar will provide an update on the challenges facing sports engineers and will discuss the extent to which sports engineers can further develop sports. With case studies from leading sports equipment manufacturers, and key presentations from leading academics and sports engineers, this event will provide a comprehensive guide
to modern-day sports engineering.
- Push the boundaries of sports engineering
- Examine the control mechanisms that keep engineering within the rules of sport
- Assess sports/areas of potential funding in the run-up to 2012 and beyond
- Hear the British Olympic Association’s opinion on future integration of engineering and sport
- Analyse the interaction between the human body and sports equipment
- Learn from the experience of major manufacturers including Dunlop Slazenger and Speedo
- Meet, greet and network with major manufacturers and key industry players
- Sports engineers
- Sports equipment manufacturers
