The concept of ‘safety management’ is becoming more and more prominent in the aviation sector. Airworthiness of air vehicles has been assured, historically, by the application of design specifications and regulations. However, in order to maintain airworthiness and safety, ICAO has recently introduced regulations requiring operators in the civil aerospace regime to generate and be operating a Safety Management System (SMS) within two years.
This event will provide all stake-holders with an understanding of how to incorporate the SMS piece to the airworthiness ‘jigsaw’ and meet this new challenge for global aviation, by exploring the requirements and considering how other organisations have developed SMS.
