S1562 - Train Accessibility Targets for 2020: Are we on Track?

1 day Seminar | Completed
Thursday 2 December 2010

Institution of Mechanical Engineers
1 Birdcage Walk
London
SW1H 9JJ United Kingdom

Overview

Train companies strongly support the principle of accessibility for disabled people, both as a compliance with legal obligations, and as a commercial opportunity. The evidence suggests that the numbers of disabled people using the rail network has increased significantly in recent years, but there is still much scope to increase capacity further, particularly if government targets for 2020 are to be met.

With presentations from leading industry and government figures, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers has organised this event to examine the technical and commercial issues in meeting the 2020 deadline.

Attending this event will help you:

• Examine how best to achieve compliance with the 2020 deadline
• Discuss the DfT’s target of making all rolling stock wheelchair accessible by 2020
• Engage in discussions with train operators and get their perspective on up-coming projects
• Meet, greet and network with key industry professionals

Who should attend

Rail operating companies, government, network operators, TOCs, ROSCOs, consultancies, rolling stock manufacturers, infrastructure equipment designers and manufacturers, contract or chain supply managers, academics and professionals with an interest in the 2020 targets.
