Overview
This STEM event is for schools in close proximity of The Railway Challenge 2018.
The Railway Challenge showcases the culmination of locomotive building skills, expertise, knowledge, and business acumen of 11 teams of aspiring young engineers from universities and industry.
Participating teams are:
The University of Warwick, University of Sheffield, FH Aachen & Reuschling University, Germany, Siemens & University of Southampton, SNC-Lavalin Rail, University of Huddersfield, Ricardo Rail, University of Birmingham, Transport for London, Bombardier Transportation and University of Derby, Helwan University – Team Anubis, Egypt
The Friday and Saturday event for schools is a day of great learning and fun!
Planned Agenda
1. Welcome and Orientation
2. Tours of the locomotives on display/doing test runs
3. A STEM Activity and Q&A time with rail engineers
4. Passes to Sunday's event for children and parents - where they get a ride on the spectator train run by the site.
A TEACHER/ PARENT SHOULD MAKE THE BOOKING - A FORM WILL BE SENT OUT FOR COMPLETION BEFORE ATTENDING THE EVENT.
