Switchgear: Reducing the Climate Impact of SF6 seminar
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and in line with government and FCO / WHO guidelines is implementing measures to ensure the health and safety of our attendees and supporting staff at IMechE events. Following UK Government advice to restrict social interaction and movement in public areas, we have therefore taken the decision to postpone the Switchgear: Reducing the Climate Impact of SF6 seminar due to take place on 9 July 2020.
Please be assured that your delegate ticket will be carried over to the new event date. However, if you would like to refund your ticket, please let us know and we will aim to process this as soon as possible. We hope you understand that, under the present fluctuating circumstances, it is not possible for us to confirm the date at this precise moment, however the new date will be communicated to you as soon as the scale of the impact of COVID-19 becomes clearer.
The seminar will discuss technical strategies in reducing/eliminating dependence on Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) containing the extremely potent greenhouse gas Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) in electrical power systems. SF6 has typically been used in switchgear as it is very cheap to produce and has excellent insulating properties.
Join to understand the technical roadmaps for distribution and transmission network operators in replacing this equipment. This is also a key opportunity to learn about the developments in technology and the supply chain, direct from equipment manufacturers who are currently active in developing SF6-free switchgear.
WHY YOU NEED TO ATTEND:
- Get a technical update on the state of play in the UK power sector as operators develop their post-SF6 roadmaps
- Benefit from case studies on the latest technological developments to replace SF6-intensive GIS
- Meet and network with key stakeholders representing operators, manufacturers, industry associations and regulators
- Benchmark your organisation's readiness to move past SF6 against your peers in industry, both in the UK and Europe
-
Evaluate and assess available SF6-free switchgear solutions and their suitability for your sites
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
All power systems and electrical engineers involved with switchgear equipment should attend this seminar, in particular:
- Power System Engineers
- Electrical Engineers
- Compliance
- Asset Management
- Switchgear Engineers
- Technical Authorised Persons
- Procurement
- Asset Specification
SUPPORT YOUR CAREER DEVELOPMENT:
Attending this event supports your Professional Development; if you're an IMechE Member, this can be tracked in the Career Developer section of your online account.
