Overview
Ageing infrastructure is not a new problem, but the challenges it poses are multiplying in combination with reduced OPEX budgets and the drive to Net-Zero. Managing the competing priorities of safety, performance, affordability and sustainability is critical in all spheres of engineering, in particular for those managing older assets.
There are growing challenges in asset-intensive industries related to the advancing years of extant engineering infrastructure and equipment, together with an expectation that both existing and new infrastructure and equipment will likely be utilised way beyond its design-life.
This conference will bring together engineers and experts from a range of sectors to address the challenges posed by ageing assets. It is an opportunity for delegates to learn from projects and practices employed in other industries, and explore how they can optimise their own strategy for life-extended infrastructure.
The event will look at all the key issues including codes and standards, maintenance strategies, novel technologies, and best practice across the whole lifecycle, empowering attendees to rethink how they can get the most value from their assets. There will also be ample opportunities to network with peers across a diverse range of industries, exposing delegates to new ideas and engagement with the wider engineering community.

WHY ENGINEERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CONFERENCE:
"Engineers have to work together to address the mistakes of the past. These opportunities to get together enable us to share experience and learn how drive towards a sustainable future. The short-term investment to transition from reactive to proactive can be large but the medium and long-term benefits to safety, reliability and availability are well known."
Nick Deavin, Senior Maintenance Authority, AWE

"The only way we can evolve the way we think is to come together as a community, and I would rather be an advocate for change within this domain as I have experienced first hand the impact of poorly planned aging assets....I am looking forward to peer to peer discussions to understand first hand the challenges and opportunities that the domain faces."
Tim Ingram, Technical Director Strategic Asset Management, Atkins and Chair, UK Mirror Committee for ISO 55000 (AMS/01), British Standards Institute
