Overview
This lecture is free and open to all
Mike Oldham, Head of the Catapult Centres Programme at Innovate UK will discuss the role the government must play to support innovation advances within the engineering profession.
Innovation is seen as turning knowledge into commercial advantage, but the road from scientific concept to commercial products and services is long, winding and highly complex. The twists and turns and false summits are beyond the financial planning horizons of many businesses. The role of Innovate UK is to share the risk of this journey through the provision of R&D infrastructure, funding programmes and networks.
This lecture will allow you to discover where Government support has worked and where it hasn’t so that we can learn how taxpayers’ money is best spent to create new businesses.
