Overview
70km of the Crossrail route will run on the national rail network. Network Rail are therefore completing £2.3bn of upgrades to prepare the railway for these new services in 2018.
Speakers from Network Rail and Crossrail will report on the technical and logistical challenge of preparing three different network routes, around the operational railway ready for the arrival of the Crossrail train service.
Work includes a brand new terminus at Abbey Wood, upgraded stations across the network, signalling renewals, new overhead electrification and new grade separated junctions.
Lecture speakers:
Matthew Steele, Programme Director, Network Rail
Graeme Overall, Head of O&M Interface - Acting Head of Regulatory Approvals, Crossrail
The lessons learnt from this ambitious project will help shape your own upgrade work and understand the complexities involved when considering modernising the historic rail network.
