Overview
NEW DATE FOR SCOTLAND!
The Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 1999 (COMAH) place a general duty on Operators to ‘take all measures necessary to prevent major accidents'. This seminar will enable Operators and others managing installations at COMAH and high-hazard sites to better meet their legal and commercial responsibilities and limit the consequences to people and the environment of any accidents that occur.
The Seminar will present two complementary approaches, with examples of how this duty can be realised in practice through:
- Risk assessment and appropriate instrumented protection systems: COMAH requires ‘Safety Integrity Level’ studies for all installations, coupled with Level of Protection Assessments for new installations.
Integrity management of assets and equipment to meet COMAH and other relevant regulations such as the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and HSE guidance on Storage of Flammable Liquids in Tanks (HSG 176).
