Overview
As we move to decarbonise, the future energy mix will transition to include more renewable and sustainable sources. With these changes, fluid machinery components will need to be adapted to address new challenges including material compatibility, safe compression, and energy consumption.
Fluid machinery components are essential and abundant in any plant design, is it vital that companies work to improve the efficiency of each asset to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and costs. This seminar will look at strategies that can be implemented to improve efficiency, reduce maintenance, and increase longevity of fluid machinery components.
Whilst it is important to ensure we cover strategies that can be implemented on existing plants, we must also look at innovative ways to address some of the challenges that we expect to see with the changing energy mix including compression challenges associated with hydrogen compression, and fluctuations in renewable power amongst others.
Key topics this seminar will cover:
- The number of fluid machinery components included in a single company’s assets can reach numbers in the thousands. Ensuring that each of these components are fit for purpose is critical to improving longevity, efficiency, and safety.
- Many existing plants are ageing, which means old components must be overhauled or new components retrofitted to old assets. The compatibility of new components can result in challenges in predictive maintenance strategies and projecting costs.
- Hydrogen can be a decarbonisation agent for the energy transition, but its unique characteristics pose a challenge for safe compression. Compressor design needs to be reviewed and optimised for safe operation with hydrogen-rich gases.
