Overview
Each year, the Young Engineers and Apprentices Railway Seminar (YEARS) provides those new to the rail industry with valuable insights into the current developments of the industry. YEARS also provides an opportunity to network with peers from across the industry and foster a more collaborative approach to solving problems in the future.
Following on from a turbulent 2020, the end of 2021 has seen the industry able to meet in person once again, and YEARS can provide an excellent opportunity for young rail engineers and apprentices to meet in person and fully engage with others from the railway family.
The concept of ‘Into City Rail’ is something which is being explored across the nation, as local authorities and freight operators look to bring heavy rail closer to populated areas, though high speed freight trains, and heavy/light rail vehicles, such as the UK’s first Tram Train. Innovation is always at the forefront of YEARS, and ‘Into City Rail’ embraces innovation and a new way of thinking about rail.
