Martyn Bridges: Director of Technical Services, Worcester Bosch

Martyn has been in the heating industry for over 40 years. Within the Worcester Bosch Group he has specific responsibility for Engineering Services, Training and Regulations and Standards.  He is the chairman of the Boiler Technical panel in the HHIC and is also on the Board at the Hot Water Association, OFTEC and the CIPHE.  He is regularly called upon by DESNZ and other Government policy makers to advise on new standards and regulations.

Paul Needley: Managing Director, Enertek International Ltd

Paul Needley is Managing Director of Enertek International Ltd in the United Kingdom. The company is an independent engineering consultancy and specialises in in domestic and commercial heating and cooking appliance design, development, and certification. Paul is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He joined Enertek in 1987 after working in engineering research and development for a major gas appliance manufacturer and completing professional level qualifications in both engineering and business.

Dr Wei He: Senior Lecturer in Engineering, King’s College London

Dr Wei He is Senior Lecturer and Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Research Fellow in the Department of Engineering King’s College London. Before King’s, he took positions in University of Warwick and MIT to develop his research on energy storage, low-carbon heating, and liquid separation. His research has led to over 40 journal articles, two patents, and one online simulation platform HeatMyHome.ninja.

Mark Crowther: Associate Director, Kiwa UK

Mark Crowther is currently Associate Director of Hydrogen at Kiwa. He has over 40 years’ experience in the energy sector and has a wide knowledge of energy use (biomass, gas, oil and coal) from the industrial to domestic scales of operation.

He was the first to encourage DECC to investigate the re-purposing of the UK gas grid to hydrogen in 2012 following work for the IEA.

This led to the NGN Leeds H21 project a world first to determine the practicality of repurposing a whole city.

He was subsequently technical lead for Hy4Heat again a UK first to develop a wide range of hydrogen domestic and commercial appliances and obtain a letter of assistance from the HSE.

Akos Revesz: Manager – Cities & Regions, The Carbon Trust

Akos is a Chartered Engineer and a Project Manager with extensive experience in low-carbon heating and cooling spanning over a decade. He frequently assists public sector clients at the Carbon Trust in developing district energy projects, from initial energy master planning to commercialisation. Prior to his current role, Akos held a position as a Senior Research Fellow at London South Bank University. In this role he contributed to various innovative energy projects involving energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, and district heating. Beyond his managerial responsibilities, Akos actively contributes to the field as a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.

James Standley: Chief Technology Officer, Kensa Group

James has worked for Kensa, the UK's largest manufacturer and installer of Ground Source Heat Pumps, for the last 16 years, has been an IMechE member since studying at Bristol and is a Non-Executive Director at the ADE.

Adam Magett: Principal Hydrogen Consultant, DNV

Adam is Principal Consultant with over 18 years' experience in a variety of challenging roles. He served with the British Army as an Aircraft engineer for 11 years in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME). Since then he has gained further experience across two new industries in Rail and Gas. In his current role, Adam is responsible for providing technical support and project leadership on hydrogen projects which are supporting the UK's transition to a low carbon energy future.

Dave Pearson: Group Sustainable Development Director, Star Refrigeration Ltd; Royal Academy of Engineering, Visting Professor, Edinburgh Napier University

Dave Pearson is Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Renewable Energy and Sustainability for Zero Emission at Edinburgh Napier University. He is Group Sustainable Development Director, at Star Refrigeration Ltd.  Since 2009, Dave has been extolling the sustainability advantages of large river source heat pumps highlighting the successes achieved to date and further opportunities. With a diverse insight across technical, economic and policy factors he continues to share across academia, industry and government in pursuit of their ubiquity.
