Overview
Rail freight is changing, with traditional markets on the wane and a greater focus on containerised and retail freight. This brings opportunities, but also challenges, not least from the congested rail network and the demands of passenger and freight customers.
Responding to this, and staying apace of the ever changing road freight sector means that we have to innovate and change, updating our use of technology and upskilling our staff. In this lecture we will explore how the rail freight sector is addressing these questions, and how the engineering sector can support.
