Understanding the customer is a key enabler for successful engineering in the Ford Motor Company. This lecture will provide a brief summary of the recent Ford Transit development using key customer insights. Early involvement of customers have driven innovative features which captured vehicle needs from van customers’ point of view. The all-new Transit is based on a state-of-the-art global platform and replaced the 1-tonne & 2-tonne Commercial vehicle line-up. The new generation Transit, launched in 2012, was developed under the One Ford product strategy for sale in 6 continents. The International Van of the award in 2013 and today‘s market leader position in Europe, North America and China are underlining the Product Development success.
