Overview
Carolyn Griffiths CEng FIMechE FREng will present her Presidential Address entitled Engineering: All Change?
The ways in which engineers train, work and innovate today is vastly different from 30-40 years ago. In the same period technology has significantly changed and the pace of change is increasing; fundamentally altering our society, the way we live our lives, and our aspirations for the future. This is an exciting time to be an engineer.
Using the time span of her career as a reference period she will illustrate some examples of how much has changed in that period and whether there is need for more. She will argue that the engineering profession needs to be agile in keeping pace and indeed lead change itself. This presentation examines some of the challenges in doing so and draws out ideas for what the future might, or indeed should, hold.
The Presidential Address is free to attend.
