Institution of Mechanical Engineers, London
Overview
This year's James Clayton lecture will be delivered by Geoff Hobbs, Director of Public Transport Service Planning for Transport for London covering London Underground, London buses, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway and trams.
Geoff is responsible for planning, development and justification of ideas to improve TfL's services. He also leads TfL's input into the development of the National Rail network in London more widely, identifying and justifying TfL's priorities.
Attend this lecture to hear about how engineers and transport planners can better work together to the benefit of the passenger through reducing journey times and crowding. Understand how TfL require engineer’s ingenuity not only to upgrade its lines, but also to change timetables to make the most of what infrastructure is already there. Engineering closures are often also inevitable, but find out how TfL requires engineers to look at options to minimise the adverse impacts.
