Overview
Following the previous technical tour to Brussels in 2016, this year's Railway Division Young Engineers’ Technical Tour will take in Glasgow and Edinburgh on 27-28 April 2017.
Ideal for apprentice & graduate trainees and those new to the industry, attendees will learn about the numerous upgrade projects underway in the two cities including the automation of the Glasgow subway and the Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP).
The tour is a fantastic opportunity to mix with other young engineers from across the industry and experience some of the most advanced engineering in Britain, with a range of presentations from key decision makers and front-line site visits. Develop new and existing skills and knowledge to positively influence your future engineering projects.
The tour package includes all meals and accommodation in Edinburgh on the 27th April, plus the chance to mix with other young engineers from across the industry with food, drink and merriment on the evening of day 1.

Feedback from the 2016 technical tour:
"It was an extremely enjoyable trip with lots of exposure to a functioning infrastructure network. I personally gained a lot of knowledge about the industry and how the industry differs in a foreign environment."
"It was much better than expected for me. I learnt a lot and it was great to see operational aspects of the railway which I usually do not have a chance to see. The planning was well done and genuinely interesting to see how other people do railways. It was good to meet other young engineers and felt there was great value in the down time we had together."
"It has been a great opportunity to go behind the scene of railway operation...it has also given the opportunity to meet other interesting people."
"Overall, a very good trip with a good blend of both engineering learning and networking. The overall trip was very well planned with an array of activities and presentations...a very good trip that I would recommend to others."
"A very informative and enjoyable event."
