Overview
Teams of young engineers will take part in a challenging competitive business simulation game based on managing a power utility that has its own production with coal-fired, gas-fired and wind power plants.
The teams make decisions regarding pricing, marketing, plant investments and divestments, capacity utilisation and operational improvements, renewable energy, risk management policy, funding and profit redistribution.
It is proposed that team members would take a different role in the team, such as Asset Manager, Risk Manager, Retail Manager, Finance Manager, so that they would learn to understand the competing arguments in an organisation making complex business decisions. This involves a number of rounds with success measured by a team’s ability to generate sustainable shareholder returns.
Attend this workshop to:
• Learn about the many interactions and conflicting decisions that are required in the successful running of a business with a technology base
• Obtain broader learning of business management skills
• Increase your learning and skills in markets, risk management, commercial and financial fields
Who should participate?
Young engineers within corporate organisations, universities and institutions – each team must have four participants. Open to all.
How to register: Please provide the reason your team would like to participate in no more than 200 words, and send to ge@imeche.org by 7 September 2015.
A trainer will familiarise the contestants with the simulation interface remotely prior to the event day.
