Overview
The Vehicle / Structures Systems Interface Committee aims to make best use of the limited space afforded by historic infrastructure and improving safety. This presentation will consider two aspects of its research program.
The development of a new set of dynamic passenger vehicle gauges will be presented, having been developed to facilitate the design of standard-sized rail vehicles for specific purposes using established absolute gauging processes which optimise their size and network ‘reach’. Research into the platform to train stepping gap will be also be presented showing how this might allow optimisation of this interface using simulation and uncertainty theory.
