John Whurr: Project Engineer, Rolls-Royce
John Whurr will present this lecture, who leads the design of new engines, advanced concept studies and technology definition strategy at Rolls-Royce.
John Whurr joined Rolls-Royce in 1986 after receiving a First in Mechanical Engineering from Liverpool University. He subsequently studied for a Master's of Science degree in Gas Turbine Engineering with Cranfield University. Since joining Rolls-Royce he has worked in Future Programmes, initially as a specialist in gas turbine performance, thermodynamic cycle design and high speed propulsion. In 2000 he received the Whittle Reactionaries Prize for innovation in aircraft propulsion for his work on compound cycle turbofan concepts. His current role as a Project Engineer involves leadership of conceptual design of new engines, advanced concept studies and technology definition strategy. He is also Rolls-Royce capability owner for research and technology on ‘Engine Systems.’
