He has expertise in gas, steam, geothermal and hydro generation technologies and has previously worked for both GEC Alstom and General Electric. He is married with two children and lives in Sydney Australia.

Hideyuki Nakamura is Chief Specialist of Generator Department, which is manufacturing turbine generators in Toshiba Corporation, Energy System Solution Company. He is in charge of turbine generator technologies, and has been working on the design and development of turbine generators for over 20 years.

Steve Turner joined GEC Turbine Generators, now GE, in 1985 as a student apprentice obtaining a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham University in 1989. He has been involved in many aspects of the development, manufacturing and servicing of steam turbines through various technical and managerial roles based in Rugby. Between 2012 and 2016 Steve managed the Fleet Management function with responsibilities for analysing fleet performance and addressing issues which may have an impact on availability and reliability. Recently Steve has taken up a new role as a Customer Support Engineer acting as the single point of contact for resolution of all technical problems for one of GE’s largest European customers.

Owyn Wallace started in the industry as a graduate trainee in 2008 with SSE, during this time he worked on maintenance and engineering of existing turbine plant as well as the design of new plant. He then moved to Eggborough where he was the turbine engineer looking after 4 500MW AEI machines. He recently moved to EDF and Cottam Power Station in an engineering position where we have 4 500MW English Electric machines.

Tim Shurrock graduated in 1989 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and joined GEC Turbine Generators at Rugby, now GE, where he began his career in the design of steam turbines. He has been involved with many aspects of design and analysis of steam turbine components, and has been responsible for both project engineering and technical management. He was appointed to his current role in 2012. As Manager, Mechanical Design and Integrity for the Thermal Services Steam Turbine Product Centre Rugby, he has responsibility for the design of steam turbine retrofits on both OEM and other OEM machines, and in addition service engineering for Alstom’s Impulse Turbine fleet.

Chris Markman has been with GE for over 15 years. During this time Chris has held a variety of roles in None Destructive Testing, Quality and Repair Services. In his current role, Chis is focused on inspection technologies for gas and steam turbines and generators. His goal is to help maximize customer reliability while reducing inspection time and cost. Current areas include in-situ inspections, rotor forging inspections, and integrating inspections with the Industrial Internet. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Auburn University.

Simon has worked at Heysham 2 for 12 years, nearly 10 of which have been as Turbine Engineer with responsibility for all aspects of diagnostics, maintenance and asset management.

Vincent Fernagut is Head of technical mission for electrical systems and generator expert at CNEPE, an engineering unit inside EDF Nuclear Engineering branch. He is dealing with the existing nuclear generators and also new nuclear projects. He has been working for EDF for 16 years.

Enrico Foglino: Senior Engineer, Ansaldo Energia

Enrico Foglino is currently a Senior Engineer in Ansaldo Energia Steam Turbine Service Solution Group. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Genoa in Genoa, Italy. Mr. Foglino has been with Ansaldo for 22 years, starting his career there as a Technology Fact Finder. This critical role encompassed detailed field inspections and evaluations of a wide range of industrial steam turbines technologies and ratings. Today, his leadership responsibilities include global product portfolio management, technical steam turbine application support & marketing analysis for the Service commercial team.

Mark Baumann: Inspections Integration Leader, GE

Mark Baumann joined Alstom’s Generator Design Team, taking measurements on other OEM Generators to support designing rewind kits, after graduating in mechanical engineering. He transitioned to Generator inspections & testing. In 2009 Mark transitioned to the Nordic team as site manager, taking part in several nuclear unit retrofit projects in Scandinavia. In 2013 Mark moved to the Generator Product Line, coordinating robotic inspections and harmonizing Inspection procedures. Today Mark is integrating GE & Alstom Legacy inspection methods with special focus on Robotic Inspections.

Wolfgang Hahn has 28 years of industry experience, including roles in the marine engineering industry, manufacturing industry and power generation industry (nuclear and non-nuclear). His current role as head of engineering within the central technical organisation of EDF energy means that he is responsible for dealing with all engineering matters related to the assets within the UK non-nuclear portfolio, exercise governance in terms of plant risk, integrity and safety, but also provide oversight against plant design intent to support safe, reliable operation of the UK fleet of coal, gas fired and wind driven generation within the UK.

Wojciech Betlej studied Electrical Engineering (MSc) at Wroclaw Technical University (PL) and Cork Institute of Technology (IRL) where he graduated with honours. His whole career has been devoted to engineering design studies, calculations, and maintenance of turbo generators in range 10MW-1000MW. Previously he worked for Alstom Poland where he was designing new generators and generator retrofits, then he moved to UK where he worked for ALSTOM generator service department, performing design studies, calculations and RCA of the generator breakdowns. Currently as the Lead Tender Engineer he is targeting, acquiring and undertaking aftermarket work on machines manufactured by large turbogenerator OEMs.

SpiralWeld™ have been solving problems for the UK power industry for 28 years providing remanufacturing and upgrade services on a wide variety of critical components and systems.

Roy Beardshaw trained as Chartered mechanical engineer and has worked for Brush for over 18 years in Engineering and is now Head of Engineering, responsible for the Generator Engineering teams, including for the aftermarket. He provides extensive support and condition analysis of generators in the field and has a large experience in determining the degradation and failure of generators plus how to rectify and abate the rate of degradation”

Erik Knopf: Manager Rotordynamics, GE

Eric Knopf has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in rotor dynamics. He has about 25 years of experience in dynamics including rotor dynamics, structure dynamics, active magnetic bearings, experimental and numerical methods. Eric joined Alstom in 2009 and since 2010 he is leading the rotordynamics team, where he is responsible for the dynamic behaviour of steam turbines and combined cycle powertrains.

Jeff Parmar: Vice President Operations, UAE, Toshiba Corporation

Dr Jeff Parmar is currently employed as VP of Operations UAE by Toshiba Technical Services International based out of Abu Dhabi. In his current position he is involved in bidding process of coal, gas, oil, hydro and geothermal power stations in the MENA Region. He is also involved intimately after the Performance Testing and Consultancy business globally. Dr Parmar comes to Toshiba with over 35 years' experience in power plant performance assessment with the former Central Electricity Generating Board and its successor companies PowerGen PLC and National Power/International Power. He was also the MD for TUV Energy Services and worked for a US company called General Physics. Dr Parmar is a certified European Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineering, and a Chartered Engineer. He is a member of the ASME PTC 47 and ISO 2314 committees and has been a reviewer for many ASME and ISO Test Codes. Dr Parmar has published numerous technical papers on the performance of coal fired power stations, gas turbines and combined cycles.
