Paul Everitt: CEO, ADS Group

Paul Everitt joined ADS in February 2013 as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Farnborough International Ltd. He has more than 25 years’ experience of public policy and media campaigns in the manufacturing and transport sectors. He represents ADS members on the Aerospace Growth Partnership, the Defence Growth Partnership and the Security and Resilience Growth Partnership. He is well known across Westminster, Whitehall and Brussels as a champion of UK manufacturing and a respected advocate of industry issues and concerns. Paul was previously Chief Executive of SMMT, the national trade association for the UK motor industry and Director of Civil Air Transport and Communications at the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC). Paul began his career in furniture manufacturing, before moving into public policy research and economic analysis with the British Road Federation.

Neil Scott: Head of Architecture & Integration, Airbus

Neil Scott has held various senior Engineering and Programme and Project Management positions, including Chief Engineer for the A320 at British Aerospace, Head of A380 Landing Gear with Airbus UK, and was appointed Head of A350 Programme in December 2005, based in Airbus Toulouse. In this role Neil led the early definition of the new and bestselling A350XWB.
Following this role in Toulouse, Neil returned to the UK to become Head of the newly formed Landing Gear Engineering Centre of Competence (CoC) in 2007 and was also the Vice President Engineering for Airbus in the UK. In 2015 Neil took his present post of Head of Architecture & Integration back in Toulouse, leading the definition and assessment of aircraft projects in their early phases of design. 

Geoff Simpson: Voyager Senior Engineer & Deputy Type Airworthiness Authority, Ministry of Defence Equipment & Support

Geoff Simpson has been involved in Defence aerospace engineering for over 40 years, covering all aspects of the business ranging from leading teams engaged in performing maintenance and modification embodiment programmes through to managing type design certification validation on a wide variety of defence aircraft types, including tri-service helicopters, fast jets and large aircraft. For the last nine years Geoff has been the Senior Engineer on the UK RAF Voyager programme responsible for delivering and assuring the military certification and its continued airworthiness. He is a Chartered Engineer and holds an EASA Flight Crew Licence for Single Engine Propeller aircraft.

Paul Stevens: Chief Engineer, Airbus

Paul Stevens is the Chief Engineer for Airbus’s Zephyr systems and has worked on High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) and other tactical Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) for over 17 years. Paul has experience in all aspects of the Zephyr system delivery from requirements, capture, design, system and payload integration and testing, as well as flight permit activities and flight operations.

Group Captain Andy Read: Oversight and Approvals 2, Military Aviation Authority

Group Captain Andy Read enlisted in the RAF as a Halton Apprentice in 1980, spent five years in 'the ranks' and was commissioned in 1985. Following a degree at Southampton University and further training, he has spent most of his career on Harrier, hopping back-and-forth between roles in the Front Line (JEngO, SEngO, OC Eng) and in the Harrier Project Team in what is now Defence Equipment & Support. More recently, he has been the Project Team Leader and Type Airworthiness Authority for Tornado and is now in the Oversight & Approvals division of the MAA.

Steve George: Chair, ASD REACH Working Group

Steve George has worked in the aerospace industry for 29 years in a range of product development and management roles. He is a physicist by education and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. In recent years Steve has specialised in the functional management of issues relating to supply chain management and engineering work undertaken by suppliers, and has been focused on managing REACH issues in a multinational company corporate context since 2010. Steve is chair of the Aerospace and Defence Industries of Europe (ASD) REACH working group, and a Director of the International Aerospace Environment Group.

Phil Curnock: Chief Engineer CLE Future Programmes, Rolls-Royce

Phil Curnock is Chief Engineer for Civil Large Engine Future Programmes and leads product technology integration to fulfil future propulsion requirements for the next generations of large civil aircraft. Over his 19-year career with Rolls-Royce, Phil has held numerous roles across Defence Engine Programmes. He has also spent a number of years on the Rolls-Royce Technical Audit Team, directing and advising technical development of Military and Civil Engine Programmes, and more recently has held the roles of Chief Service Engineer for Helicopter Engines and Chief Project Engineer for the UltraFan™ project.

Toby Middlemiss: Aerospace Segment Manager, Oerlikon Balzers

Toby Middlemiss has been working for Oerlikon Balzers for 10 years in the components segment. After completing degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Motorsport Engineering at Cranfield University he has worked for Balzers supporting the components markets with surface solutions, in particular looking at PVD thin film carbon coatings such as DLC. More recently he has a focus on developing coatings for the aerospace industry such as erosion prevention coatings and chrome replacement solutions.

Steve King: EHM Specialist & Rolls-Royce Engineering Associate Fellow – Advanced Analytical Methods, Rolls-Royce Controls and Data Services

Steve King is a Rolls-Royce Engineering Associate Fellow and EHM Specialist working within the Controls and Data Services - part of the Rolls-Royce Group. During his career at Rolls-Royce he has held positions within the Measurement Engineering group, Electronics and Measurement Techniques department, Strategic Research Centre, Business Process Improvement Centre, Controls Engineering and System Design Engineering. As EHM Specialist he has interests in the use of data mining and advanced analytical techniques in support of in-service issues. Steve holds a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and a PhD in the application of expert systems for vibration analysis.

Dr. Mudassir Lone: Dynamics, Simulation and Control Group, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Cranfield University

Mudassir Lone is a lecturer in flight dynamics at Cranfield University, where he received his PhD in aeroelastics and flight mechanics. He received his BA and MEng degrees in Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2008. His research interests include aeroservoelastics, simulation and flight dynamics and control of unconventional aircraft. He has previously worked at Airbus UK as an aeroelastics engineer and is currently the Cranfield principal investigator responsible for contributing to the Agile Wing Integration, Wing of the Future and BLADESENSE projects. He is a member of the RAeS Flight Simulation Technical Committee and is also serving on the AIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Technical Committee.

Tom Clark: System Design Specialist – Engine Health Monitoring, Rolls-Royce Controls and Data Services

Tom Clark is a system design engineering specialist, with over 15 years of experience in the aerospace industry. During this time, Tom has designed a variety of gas turbine engine control and monitoring systems, covering a variety of applications that includes single engine trainers and large civil airliners. Tom is currently part of the Innovation and Strategy group within Rolls-Royce, where his focus is developing the monitoring systems for the next generation of gas turbine products.

Bradley Gregory: Commercial Director, Air Salvage International (ASI)

Bradley Gregory is the Commercial Director of Air Salvage International (ASI), a globally respected disassembly company at the forefront of the industry for almost two decades. After acquiring business qualifications, Bradley officially joined ASI in 2009 as H&S/Environmental Officer, but was privileged to acquire valuable insight into disassembly processes through shadowing ASI projects during his teens. His knowledge and dynamic flair for business led to eventual promotion within the company, and to a place on the Board of AFRA (Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association). Bradley is also a Director of Skyline Aero, a thriving aircraft parts company set up in 2013.

Bernice Robinson: Composite Materials Team Lead, 1710 Naval Air Squadron, Ministry of Defence

Bernice Robinson is the Navy Commands subject matter expert in all aspects of composite materials relating to military aircraft. She has been working at 1710 Naval Air Squadron within this role for nearly 20 years after graduating from the University of Southampton with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and from Imperial College London with a MSc in Composite Materials. Bernice is currently finishing a PhD research project examining whether it is environmentally beneficial to recycle the carbon fibre composite components fitted to UK military aircraft.  Bernice is also a member of AMSTAC and IMechE.
