Overview
Hazards can occur in all environments; protection against the risks of fire, smoke and detonation must be understood to ensure safety in design. Fire modelling is an essential tool for mechanical engineers to effectively manage this risk.
Building on 2022's popular event, this seminar will cover the work of mechanical engineers to model fire across a range of disciplines and application areas. Whether it be the modelling of active smoke control systems and escape routes in a post-Grenfell era or monitoring the increasing numbers of EVs and associated thermal runaway risks, understanding the computational methods of modelling is essential.
Multiple types of fires can occur which challenges engineers to offer different solutions depending on the context of the environment, cause of ignition and types of materials interacting with heat. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of which tools, software and development platforms are the most effective in individual, real world scenarios. Understand the advantages and pitfalls of different approaches and come away from the seminar with a greater practical awareness of fire modelling best practice.
