WHY OUR SPEAKERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CONFERENCE:
|
"It's always good to hear how others have solved similar problems. I also enjoy a look into the innovations that support the industry. Networking is a big part of this event. Forming new contacts and sharing experience is quite motivational. It is often difficult to quantify the benefit of that snippet of information or that contact made but it is always worthwhile."
Richard London, EDF Energy

"This is one of the few events in this industry where there is a good balance of OEMs, end users and service providers and that the presentations tend to be technical and non-commercial."
Howard Sedding, Qualitrol Iris Power

"Engineering is very much about learning from others and developing new ideas by interaction. Engineering happens between people. I am looking forward to hear from all speakers. It is very difficult to pin point one or two speakers. However, I can mention a few of them: Alastair Miller from EDF Energy, Tristian Vye from Frazer-Nash Consultancy and Luca Corsa from Ansaldo Energia."

MD&A Comprehensive Generator Stator and Field Rewind:
Stator rewind process began with removal of the stator wedges and stator bars. The core was both visually inspected and electrically tested using an ELCID test to identify any shorted laminations.
Glaskyd sausage (conforming material) was installed between the top and bottom bars in the end winding. Conductive side ripple springs were installed to insure proper electrical contact between the slot wall and the bar.
New connection rings were then installed, all series and phase connections were brazed using induction heating. The bars were appropriately blocked, and the series loops were insulated.
Once removed from the stator, the generator field was identified with damage and sent to our Turbine- Generator Repair facility. Incoming electrical testing confirmed multiple shorts so we recommended a full rewind.
After each coil was re-installed, testing was performed. After the bake, the unit underwent a high-speed balance, two heat runs. All test results were acceptable.
MD&A is a full-service, OEM-alternative for generator service, parts and repairs with a track record of successful projects. Call MD&A today and be sure to sign up for our MD&A Insight e-newsletter.
