WHY OUR SPEAKERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CONFERENCE:
|
"It will be a welcome opportunity to re-establish the environment where we can freely share knowledge across the UK and Internationally, and help establish relevant good practice in the Nuclear Ventilation discipline. At a time when there appears to be an Industry wide shortage of engineers to meet the anticipated future demand, this conference, particularly with the focus on presentations from the supply chain, offers a unique learning opportunity for less experienced Engineers, and equally, consolidation of learning for those more experienced."
Bernard Swinnerton, Sellafield Ltd, NNVF

"This conference provides the opportunity to meet, interface with, and get to know the international experts in an environment that provides contacts for future questions, issues and plant problems. Many plant concerns can be resolved by a simple contact to an expert who is more than willing to help, instead of relying on a formal approach through the regulatory structure. This allows a win-win for the facility and an increase in public health and safety in a timely and efficient manner."
Ron Bellamy, ASME

"Innovation is a key driver of progress in the nuclear sector, and it requires a diverse range of expertise and knowledge from various industries to achieve success. It will be great to hear from all the innovation presentations. I'm particularly interested in hearing about how different companies and organisations are using technology and creativity to address the challenges faced by the industry. The conference offers a unique opportunity to explore emerging technologies, exchange ideas and experiences, and stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in nuclear ventilation engineering."
Kirstie Ryan, Project Manager at FIS360 Ltd

"I will be interested to understand the appetite in the UK concerning overseas companies investing in the UK market that supplies full turnkey capabilities, and more than happy to partner to strengthen capabilities. Innovation in the digital space also provides perhaps some of the most interesting topics for both new build and also for decommissioning challenges."
Iain Johnston, Axima

"From a regulatory perspective, all of the speakers’ topics are of interest. Personally, the NDA’s presentation on digital asset management and presentations from new build are of interest to me as I work in the New Reactors Division in ONR. I am also very interested to hear from speakers on innovation."
Ian Davies-Kerwin, Principal Inspector of Nuclear Safety, Office for Nuclear Regulation

"I’d be interested in hearing about new and innovative technologies in development which can provide appropriate safety in nuclear ventilation systems, whilst improving system efficiency and reducing energy demand, supporting net-zero ambitions. The presentations on HEPA filtration ageing and high strength HEPA filter development are of interest to me as I’m supporting regulatory research in this area. I’m also interested in the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) presentation, to understand how ventilation systems might be modularised to aid in construction simplicity and realise the intended construction method for SMRs."
Jerome Allison, Nuclear Safety Equivalent Inspector, Office for Nuclear Regulation

"As engineers are visiting manufacturing facilities less frequently, it provides a good opportunity to understand how an air handling unit is designed and manufactured and the challenges to address."
Alistair Brooks, Wozair

"It’s always a privilege to meet and discuss topics with our clients. The presentations from Dounreay, Sellafield and AWE should be real highlights. We’re all busy with the project work happening right now. Conferences like Nuclear Ventilation 2023 offer a chance to take stock and look to the future. There are always interesting thoughts and new perspectives on offer from the presenters and speakers. It’s an opportunity to share ideas and listen to colleagues from across the sector."
