Overview
This seminar will highlight recent advances within international codes and recommended practice for the design and life assessment of pressure vessels and other pressure equipment. It will feature the new provisions for inelastic design based on elastic plastic finite element analysis. A major user will describe how the new provisions, which allow improvements to conventional design and a more flexible approach to details, can be applied to new build nuclear plant.
Finite element analysis is also being used in the assessment of fatigue life and fracture. The new clauses in UK and US codes based on a FE calculated structural hot spot stress and a unified fatigue curve will be presented, together with examples of cracked body fracture analysis. The seminar will also discuss the latest developments in software and debate the qualifications required of analysts to achieve regulatory acceptance. If you are involved in the design or life assessment of pressure equipment then this seminar will be relevant to you and your company.
