Overview
With industry changes occurring whereby rail franchising has been scrapped and management contracts have been taken over alongside the introduction of many new fleets into existing depots, there is increased focus on improving depots on relatively slim budgets. As many new vehicles are of similar technological standards, a lot of knowledge will be transferrable.
These new rail vehicles are being introduced and arriving into depots built for slam door stock. Attending this event will enable best practice to be shared between operators across the UK and further afield. This not only includes new fleets but is also applicable to improving maintenance arrangements for existing fleets as well.
Key topics to be addressed include:
- Changes to depot processes to adapt to ECM legislation
- Depot upgrades including the Piccadilly Line
- Depot automation
- Smart rolling stock maintenance
- Meeting changing demands with case studies from Ardwick Train Depot
- The challenges of building a new depot onto an old railway site
- Improving depot efficiencies at Neville Hill via the use of data analytics
- Decommissioning and transfer of maintenance to others organisations
