Overview

Scrutiny on the construction industry has never been greater, as the existential need to reduce carbon emissions grows ever more critical. With ambitious targets set for 2030, 2040 and 2050 to ensure the UK is carbon neutral across all industries, construction must leverage the technical opportunities and solutions to stay ahead.

Engineers are at the heart of the UK’s construction industry and therefore at the heart of its decarbonisation programmes. Now more than ever, the engineering community must come together to ensure net zero construction becomes a reality.

The event will also showcase the role of engineers in supporting the construction sector’s decarbonisation efforts. Construction plants consist of heavy mechanical machinery, requiring specialist engineers to operate, but the need to move to ‘green’ is driving innovation and engineers are at the forefront.

Through innovation in areas such as ‘green steel’, hydrogen vehicles, battery powered plant equipment and more, the construction industry in the UK is taking its commitment to decarbonisation seriously. Scope 3 emissions reduction is a key priority right now for many companies, and the need to measure and report on performance is crucial.

Trish Kilsby: Technology Development Manager – Driveline, Lubrizol Highways

Dr Trish Kilsby is a global technology development manager and is responsible for developing lubricant additive platforms for driveline applications, specialising in off- highway equipment. Prior to this role, Trish worked in the Strategic Research group, specialising in demulsification science, developing solutions for fuel additive products. Trish Standen joined Lubrizol in 2013 after completing a M.Chem, and PhD in organic chemistry at Loughborough University.

Sam Angell: Technical Consultant, GGR Group

Sam is a Technical Consultant at GGR Group. His career in lifting started out Operating, Supervising and then coming in house as an AP for GGR. Sam’s role is extremely varied and involves specification of equipment across the whole of our offering, surveying, contract lifts, lift plan production as well as managing all our lifting equipment and technical requirements into large infrastructure projects.
