Due to the nature of the loading acting on offshore structures, there is a close relation between fatigue and structural integrity (SI), with fatigue being a dominant deterioration mechanism. The parameter connecting the fatigue and SI is usually the acceptable risk, which includes considerations of probability of failure. Current codes of best practice provide simple connections between normal fatigue analysis and this probability.
The webinar seeks to provide a more in-depth review using practical examples to discuss the accuracy of current proposed approached in standards. There is focus on offshore applications, but the underlying principles are transferrable to other sectors.
