This event will explore the challenges faced by Rolling Stock Engineers in overcoming issues regarding extending the asset life of existing fleets and the development and integration of new fleets into service. The lecture will be split into two separate presentations; firstly regarding the Bakerloo Line 72TS Fleet Life Extension Project and the challenges of ensuring an older fleet that isn’t fitted with on-train monitoring is safe for extended use, followed by an overview of the introduction of the new Class 345 fleet as part of the Crossrail Project. The Railway Division Young Members Summer Technical Forum 2018 will be held in the Lecture Theatre at One Birdcage Walk and is open to all.

Mark Glover was until recently Engineering Support Manager for London Underground's Bakerloo Line fleet. In this role he led the first line technical support team, who manage all safety and reliability investigations on the fleet, kept the maintenance suite up to date, commissioned modification design work, and provided coaching on fault finding and for individual incident response. Prior to joining the team on the Bakerloo, Mark worked in a variety of fleet support roles within London Underground, having initially joined as a Graduate Engineering Trainee in 2002. In 2008 he became Chartered, and is now an IMechE mentor and PRI panellist.
Sabrina Ihaddaden (MIET) started her career as a Graduate Engineer to become a Signalling Project Engineer at Bombardier Transportation in Derby. She is now responsible for the integration of the Signalling on-board equipment of the CL710 (LOTRAIN) and CL720 (East Anglia) Rolling Stock projects. She graduated from the University of Lancaster in 2013 with a Masters Degree in Mechatronic Systems Engineering, as well as a Masters Degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the French Engineering School Arts & Metiers ParisTech. Sabrina is also the former National Chair and CEO of the Young Rail Professionals, a non-for-profit organisation which aim to develop, promote and inspire the next generation of talent to join the Rail Industry. As the first woman at the head of the organisation, she led a team of 70 committee members, based across the country, to deliver the Networking & Development as well as the Ambassador Program. In February 2017, she received the award for the Young Rail Professionals of the year, in the female category, by the UK Rail Industry Award.

His key achievements to date have been as the Vehicle Architect for AVENTRA High Speed, and working as a Concept Designer on the joint Bombardier and Hitachi bid for the ground-breaking Deep Tube Upgrade Programme. In 2015, he was awarded the ‘Rail Engineer of the Future’ award at the Rail Business Awards, and has been heavily involved with the Young Rail Professionals.
