Overview
Traditional Blacksmiths were the first mechanical engineers and their craft was the seed of the modern-day profession. Today, the work of the traditional blacksmith has enjoyed a resurgence as a cottage industry, and we will look at some of the skills and techniques they use from the point of view of our modern understanding of materials and engineering processes.
Hear insights from chartered mechanical engineer Derro Gilmore who brings over a decade of experience in mechanical design and steel fabrication to this presentation, while also being a time served smith trained in the old techniques.
Join this webinar to get a more intuitive understanding of traditional engineering processes, together with quirks and characteristics of the materials we use.
