Bob Anderson: Principal, Competitive Power Resources Corporation

Bob Anderson is Principal of Competitive Power Resources Corporation. Bob has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in power generation for 43 years. Bob was employed for 33 years at Florida Power Corporation/Progress Energy and held a range of positions. As Manager of PE’s Combined Cycle Services Section he was involved in the procurement, design, operation and maintenance of PE’s fleet of combined cycle plants. Bob has participated in the installation of thousands of tube temperature thermocouples in a variety of HRSGs and assessed operating data for many HRSGs worldwide to identify and mitigate damaging thermal transients.

Dan Blood: Steam Asset Engineering Team Leader, Uniper Technologies

Dan leads the Steam Asset Engineering Team at Uniper Technologies in the UK. He has provided technical consultancy services to Uniper's own power generation assets and those of external clients over the last 23 years, working primarily on the boiler and HRSG plant of gas, coal, biomass and waste-fired assets. He has undertaken outage inspection services both in the UK and internationally, conducted analyses to establish and mitigate the damaging effects of flexible operation and led predictive impact assessments of gas turbine upgrades on the water / steam cycle. He has also investigated failures and operational incidents, led successful warranty claims against OEMs and undertaken due diligence activities. Dan has co-authored several EPRI technical reports, presented at numerous international conferences on HRSG related topics and he is on the Steering Committee of the European HRSG Forum.

Jake Waterhouse: Sales & Technical Director, Dekomte

Trained with Allen Gears (within Rolls-Royce Industrial Power Group) and completed a Bachelors of Engineering (BEng Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Birmingham City University. In Allen Gears he worked as a sales, applications and project engineer for main drive parallel shaft and epicyclic gearboxes. In 2004 he joined DEKOMTE operations in the UK, and is now responsible for managing and developing the UK expansion joint business. Since 2011 has been on the corporate board of DEKOMTE with responsibility for all international business. As a chartered engineer, Jake uses technical ability to deliver specialised solutions tailored to the customers' requirements.

Steve Kendrick: Director of Service and Sales, SpiralWeld Ltd

Steve is an experienced power industry technician, commissioning engineer and manager having worked in the industry for over 40 years. His expertise and knowledge cover steam and gas turbines, nuclear reactor systems, boiler and balance of plant. Steve is currently Service and Sales Director at Spiral Weld Limited.

Mark Dinnes: Director, Hildan Ltd

Mark has worked in the engineering construction industry for over 35 years predominantly in the construction and maintenance of power generation plants. Over the last 7 years Mark has been involved with the development and construction of the Keadby II project which has brought the latest Siemens Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant on to the United Kingdom power grid. Mark has produced several reports and articles related to the manufacturing process control of Creep Strength Enhanced Ferritic Steels used in the power generation industry.

Graeme has over 10 years’ experience in the Power Generation industry. His experience covers the delivery of an extensive range of complex and critical multi-disciplinary projects and programmes within the Asset Management business. Most recently he has been responsible for managing inspection projects associated with thermal power stations and for the development of novel inspection techniques.

Paul Grady: HM Principal Specialist Inspector (Mechanical Engineering), Health and Safety Executive

Paul holds the HSE Portfolio Machinery Safety, Fairgrounds and Pressure Systems. This involves mechanical engineering technical input to HSE policy on British, European and International Standards on these subjects, together with liaison with industry user-groups and trade associations. Previously Paul managed a team of mechanical engineers, providing support to HSE Inspectors in the Midlands, South of England and Wales. The scope included providing technical direction and advice to incident investigations to a diverse range of general manufacturing, construction, and fairground applications. Paul has recently been appointed as Chair of the BSI Machinery Safety national standards work (MCE3) and has a particular interest in hydraulic and steam pressure systems. He worked closely on these topics with the British Fluid Power Association and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, being the main author of HSE guidance GS4 (Safety in Pressure Testing) and PM73 (Safety requirements for Autoclaves). He is actively involved in developing consistent benchmarks between industry sectors, representing HSE in the development of BS14100, revision of PD5304 and BS EN 14960.

Andreas is the Business Manager for the HL-class portfolio. In this role, he works with customers to identify the requirements arising from the current and future market. The goal is to find the optimal solution for each individual project to maximize business value. From his more than 30 years of professional experience in the power plant business in sales, proposal processing, product management and R&D management, he can draw on extensive expertise in this area. As an author, he has been involved in numerous publications, some of which have won awards.

Dr Barry Dooley is a Senior Associate with Structural Integrity Associates, specialising in failures in power plants, steam generating facilities, flow-accelerated corrosion, tube and heater failures, steam turbine damage and failue and cycle chemistry.

Christopher Proudfoot: Head of Optimisation, VPI Power

Christopher has held a number of potions in the Electricity Supply Industry for over 30 years, with National Grid, Centrica, Drax and now VPI. He has been closely involved with generation despatch, including CCGTs, for many years. His expertise lies in the commercial and technical interaction between power stations, electricity markets and power systems. Having presented at this conference in 2017, he has seen the market go full circle.

Connor O’Shea: Head of UKCA Delivery, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

Connor’s team work closely with businesses domestically and internationally to help them understand the UK’s post-Brexit product marking requirements. Prior to this, Connor led communications, engagement and policy work in BEIS to support business preparations for Brexit. He has also worked in a range of other roles across government, including on apprenticeships and further education policy.

Douglas Coutinho: South America/Iberian Peninsula Combined Cycle Sales Manager, Precision Iceblast Corp

Douglas Coutinho started his career in 2003 in the field of industrial instrumentation and has an MBA in Sustainable Leadership and Executive Coaching, a degree in management processes and a degree in industrial instrumentation. From 2008 he started to work in the power generation area with O&M teams in several open cycle and combined cycle plants in Brazil. With the profile of an intrapreneur, Douglas started as a maintenance technician, being recognized, and gradually promoted to the positions of maintenance supervisor, O&M Manager and Plant specialist. Worked with instrumentation maintenance, automation, mechanics, elaborating failure analysis, MASP, PDCA, engineering support, overall planning, and projects to improve the performance of gas engines, Combustion Turbines, HRGS boilers and CCPP auxiliary systems. In 2017 he was recognized with the "Creation of Value" award by one of the largest power generation groups in Brazil for developing and coordinating the Katrina Project, which had the purpose of maintaining the performance of the Gas Turbine output power in warmer periods. The project, in addition to seeking to improve the process, increased the company's intellectual capital and motivated the entire O&M team to seek continuous process improvement. Over the past 3 years, Douglas has applied his intrapreneur profile and skills to provide a specialized HRSG tube cleaning solution with engineering support to improve thermal efficiency and generation efficiency of Combined Cycle Plants.

Robin Buller: Head of Business Development, KRR

Robin has worked in the energy sector for many years, gaining experience in senior roles with several multi-national corporations. Previously based in Asia and then the USA, he was the Director of International Sales for the Oil and Gas division of a large German conglomerate and later Executive Vice President of a start-up developing production of ethanol from waste agricultural crops. He has been with KRR Prostream for ten years and is responsible for business development and building and maintaining customer relationships.

Duncan Humphrey: Integrity and Fitness For Service Specialist, RINA

Duncan has over 20 years’ experience working on the condition assessment, failure analysis and remaining life evaluation, principally for the power, refining and petrochemical industries. He has undertaken a wide range of analyses, including static and rotating components, providing safety cases for future operation or technical support for litigation. He is experienced in the use of finite element analysis, pressure vessel design and fracture mechanics.

Manfred Jansen: European Operations, Anodamine

Manfred Jansen introduced film forming technology in The Netherlands in the 1990s. At that time conventional chemistry and reducing conditions were the accepted protocols for chemical treatment of water and steam cycles. Especially the utility sector went through a period of change and was seeking for solutions to new problems. In 2015 Manfred Jansen introduced the Anodamine technology to Europe and focussed on the specific chemical challenges the utility sector was and still is facing.
