This session will give an overview of the 2024 Formula
Student competition and the Learn to Win event, highlighting key rule changes
and presenting a recommended approach to your project, that is equally
applicable whether your team is new to FS or a well established team.
Project and Resource Management

This session will provide you with the necessary skills to
create a more effective team by teaching you project and resource management
skills that are critical in perfoming within the competition and the wider
engineering industry. It will also give you insights into data collection and
critical analysis to help you better prioritise your approach to the
competition to ensure the greatest chance of success.
FS Mindset

How are you going to approach this event with a winning
mindset? What even is a winning mindset and how will you define that? What tips
and tricks should you deploy to have the best chance of meeting your goals? How
would you approach to this year change if you had the benefit of hindsight from
a year's experience? How will you look after yourself and your team to make
sure the team are mentally strong for the difficult challenge and emotions
ahead of you? Join us in the main lecture theatre to answer these questions.
Practical EV Design

those who are starting fresh with EV technology and will cover the fundamental
requirements involved to help you design and develop your electric vehicle for
the upcoming competition.
Cost and Manufacturing: Review and 2024 Tips and Rules

Presented by John Dangerfield, Head Judge of Cost & Manufacturing and
Lee Wall, Deputy Head Cost Judge
This session held in the main lecture theatre will give an
overview of the 2023 event and some trends and things to watch out for in your
2024 planning and execution. We will cover information about both FS and
Concept Class and will cover the changes including subtle rule changes to bring
us closer to the European events and help teams with their costings. Finally,
there will be a high-level tip and tricks section that will act as prompts to
take into your 1-2-1 discussion with the judges outside this session.

FS Sim Racing Series Introduction and e-Sports in the
Motorsport Industry

This session will give an overview of the optional Sim
Racing competition, covering the event format and schedule, why your team
should choose to compete in this optional element of the competition and the

growth of e-sports and it's impact on the motorsport industry.

installed software can lead to a lot of headaches including file-management and
device limitations. Learn why both professionals and teams are using the
cloud-native CAD platform Onshape to speed up CAD workflows with built-in PDM,
real-time collaboration, and free learning resources. You’ll also get a look at recommended
workflows for project management and for importing previous CAD data.

Documents (CRDs), what to include and the methodology behind delivering a good
pack. This should then feed into your 1-2-1 discussions with the judges to
expand on your planning for 2024 so they can guide you to the best solutions to
maximise your time and focus.
FS Engineering Design Workshop: All you need to know to
score well in Design

The Head Design Judges will explain to you how the Design
Report is scored, how they train the Design Judges and what they are asked to
look for at event. They will explain why the event is scored the way it is and
why you should practise it beforehand. Open house Q&A to finish with
nothing off the table!

simulation in fluid, structures and electronics
